Source: Obituaries of Fountain County, Indiana Crawfordsville District Public Library Extracted by Karen Zach on July 19, 2007 - died Sept 10, 1901

Xenia Cox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Cox, of Sterling, passed away at Indianpapolis, Sept 10 aged about 11 yeares. A beautiful young life has been measured. Although personally unknown to the writer, her life is lovingly praised by all who knew her best. Devotion to her chosen profession of teaching filled her mind and was ever the theme of her thought until her work ended. In the morning of young womanhood she has gone, like one who draws the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams. She had been taken to Indianapolis for treatment and everything that medical skill could do was done for the sufferer but nothing could reach her ailment and she passed to sweet rest. The funeral was conducted in Sterling at 10 a.m. Friday by Rev. WP Shamhart, pastor of the Church of Christ, after which the interment took place near Kingman - Veedersburg news. The deceased was a resident of Kingman for a number of years and was beloved by all, and nothing but words of regret were heard on all sides when the sad news of her death reached our community.
